Dracula targets Mina and forces her to drink his blood

Summary:
Dracula uses Renfield as a scheme to distract everyone from Mina and Harker. However, the characters realize through Renfield that Dracula is in the asylum and they rush to Mina and Harker's aid only to find their bedroom door shut and locked. They are able to knock down the door only to find Harker in one of Dracula's trances and Mina being forced to drink Dracula's blood. Dracula forces Min to drink his blood in an effort to connect him to her and to overpower her with the intentions of killing her.
Why it matters:
This scene demonstrates the lack of identity Dracula has as well as the control he fights for. The fact that Dracula forces Mina to drink his blood in order to connect them to each other shows that Dracula is desperate and determined to control Mina, a women who has a strong and powerful identity. Dracula's incapability of controlling Mina shows that his lack of identity is overpowered by the greater identity that she has, signifying that Dracula is the lesser one and Mina the greater.
