Suspicion and how it challenges the authority of evil that can consume a society
Suspicion plays a huge role in the novel, and Bram Stoker made it this way because society is full of suspicion but we often times don't notice or acknowledge it in our everyday lives. Dracula is used as a symbol for everything evil and tempting in society, just like there is evil and temptation in every society, however, it is the warnings and suspicions that Harker encounters while traveling to Dracula's castle that shows how passive we really are. Harker heard and acknowledge all the warnings he was given, which is more than most of us do; but he didn't listen to them which ultimately trapped him in darkness with evil surrounding him.
