Overcoming Evil and its effects as the characters work to overcome Dracula
The theme of Overcoming Evil directly effects every character in this novel, and it progresses as they progress in their characterization. Lucy, only overcame evil through the effort of those around her, just like her identity was based off of the thoughts of those around her. Mina, overcame evil as she rose above the things that had happened to her and she progressed into an intelligent woman, counteracting the beliefs of Stoker's society at that time. Characters like Renfield never truly overcame evil, however, he did help Van Helsings group in truly understanding the threats of Dracula.
